After a 15 month break, Northampton Sings was finally able to get together and sing. We loved being able to sing outdoors and the weather was kind to us on all three weeks. We are hopeful that when the Autumn term starts we will be able to go back to choir inside. Thank you to everyone who joined us on the dates. After 14 months of being apart, we are delighted to tell you that we are making our first steps on returning to singing together as a group.
We are taking a cautious approach and opting to restart outdoors in Abington Park. The dates we will be meeting from 7-8pm are: Sunday 13th, 20th and 27th June. These three sessions will be free. if you would be interested in joining us, please get in touch via email - northamptonsings@gmail.com Can't wait to see you again soon! The Northampton Sings team After a lovely long summer off we are back in full swing and learning a brand new set list. We have a lovely mix of different music, all which are well known and very catchy! We are already throwing in some Christmas music (in October!!) to ensure we are well rehearsed for our Christmas performances at Rushden Lakes on Saturday 7th December, at 1pm and 3pm. Come along and join in! We will be taking donations for Breast Cancer Care during these performances.
Last month we performed at the Northampton Music Festival. It was a fantastic performance that managed to draw in a crowd and have everyone joining in and singing along (even in the rain!), especially with our finale of Hey Jude. We had some lovely feedback and hopefully a few new members in the audience too! We are now off for a well earned summer break until Sunday 15th September when we will be back to start a new term. This is a really great time for new members to join as we begin to learn new songs from scratch. We had 2 fantastic performances before Easter. The Big Sing! in London and then performing outside "the good loaf" for their opening weekend. We had some lovely feedback and everyone enjoyed getting to show off our fabulous songs.
After a lovely Easter break we are back and learning our new set list. Some we have brought over from last term and will continue to perfect, some we are learning from scratch. We are all working hard to learn all the harmonies and words ready for our next performance at the Northampton Music Festival (June 16th at 5:15pm on the choral stage in front of All Saints church in Northampton town centre). If you are interested in coming along and joining us, come along to a Sunday rehearsal from 7-8:30pm. We have now got around to learning all the songs on this terms set list. They are all sounding fantastic with lots of amazing harmonies from all 3 sections.
We have the Big Sing! coming up on the 23rd March in London. We have now also been asked to perform on the 30th March at 11am in Northampton for the Good Loaf who are opening a new cafe at the All Saints Church. We have around 30 minutes to perform so at last night's rehearsal we ran through all our songs ready to put together a set list. We will all be ready for our well earned break for Easter at the end of March! What a fantastic start to our new term! We have begun working on our new set lists and the new songs are starting to come together nicely. We can hear some beautiful harmonies coming through already. We have also revisited some of the songs we have carried forward from last term, too. We had great fun learning Avicii's 'Wake Me Up'. I think everyone especially enjoyed the introduction of a mystery instrument- the kazoo!!
Last night we started learning 'Sit Down' by James and managed to run through the parts for the whole song in just 40 minutes and it's already sounding amazing. If you haven't got your rehearsal CDs already, be sure to pick one up at rehearsal so you can practise your own parts at home (or even in the car!) New term, new songsIt was great to see old and new faces alike last Sunday, as we restarted for our new term! We introduced two of our new songs, with a few more to follow in the coming weeks. Even after 2o minutes' work, Viva la Vida already had harmonies added and sounded extremely promising; and I think we were all humming Fernando on the way out of the building! But if you didn't make it, there's still time to join in - CDs to practise with at home will be available at rehearsals in the next week or two, so you can practise your parts at leisure at home, and we look forward to hearing the results at our rehearsals..!
Today Northampton Sings! performed at the Northampton Music Festival 2018 and it was awesome - we had great fun and got to meet lots of lovely people.
